Global Ophthalmic Institute
Strengthening global eye care through evidence-based clinical education.
GOI empowers the ophthalmic and eye care workforce in low- and middle-income countries with peer-reviewed, open-access clinical training. Redcom designed and built the public website, integrated the learning platform behind it, and continues to host, maintain and support the environment.

The challenge
Almost 2.2 billion people worldwide live with a vision impairment, a reality driven by a critical shortage of trained eye health workers. Clinical education that could close that gap is scattered, often paywalled and rarely reaches the practitioners who need it most. GOI needed a credible public presence and a learning environment that works for professionals wherever they are.
Product strategy
Lead with the mission and the evidence, then make the learning one click away. The site presents the global challenge, the mission and a three-part strategic framework — an accessible online resource, a global academic network of partner institutions and expert teachers, and practical learning tools beyond lectures — with clear routes into the academy for learners and into partnership for institutions, ministries of health and individual educators.
User experience
A calm, clinical reading experience that moves a visitor from the scale of the problem, to the mission, to the framework, to action. Learners are routed into the academy portal to explore evidence-based ophthalmic courses and practical training guides; academic partners and educators are routed into a collaboration conversation. Layouts are built to stay readable and light on slower connections.
Technology solution
A designed and built public website with the learning management system integrated behind it, so course content and the academy portal sit inside one coherent experience — delivered on managed hosting with ongoing maintenance and support from Redcom.
Outcome
GOI has a public home for its mission and a working route into its learning platform: evidence-based ophthalmic courses and practical training guides accessible to eye care professionals globally, with the site kept live and maintained as the curriculum and academic network grow.
